Rodneys Transport Service Pty Ltd (RTS) is a locally owned and operated private transport and distribution business. Established in 1992, our company operates from its primary site – 50acres within the Bomen Industrial Estate, north of Wagga Wagga and is the largest privately owned Line Haul Operations Company within the Riverina. In addition the company has a secondary storage site (150 acres) within the estate with a current palletised freight capacity in excess of 100,000 pallets with customers being able to select palletised storage options ranging from 5,000 – 20,000 pallets.

Since the inception of our company and over the subsequent 20 years, we have grown and evolved from a small ‘one man’ operation of just 3 trucks to emerge as a sizable, contemporary, competitive participant in the transport arena operating 100 prime movers and over 300 trailer configurations – evident and significant growth in both size and operations under the Rodneys Transport Service branding. Our focus is the movement of freight throughout the eastern states utilising tippers, tautliners and tankers and freight storage of bulk and palletised stock. In addition we provide a customer focussed response to the west of Australia on an ‘as needed’ basis.

Given the size and purpose designed layout of our depot, we are able to move the total fleet in and around our site with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations. Our site is also home to the only regional 24 hour/7day fully automated fuel stop (diesel and petrol) providing access to a significant portion of the heavy vehicle traffic moving along the road corridors linking Queensland and Victoria/South Australia. Additionally, our company depot at Bomen houses the only public split weighbridge within a 200km radius that attracts considerable traffic flow for the purpose of weight and registration verification.

Our site in Bomen boasts a modern automated grain storage facility that allows approximately 20,000 tonne of grain storage and capacity for a variety of bulk and bagged fertilizer products to be stored and subsequently distributed. Our onsite grain storage facility enables us to provide the much needed advantage of ‘next day’ delivery should this be required.

During the rural harvest season, a hive of activity is the most apt descriptor for our grain storage and weighing facility. RTS vehicles coupled with other local transport operators take advantage of the opportunity to access the site for substantially extended operating hours to meet the demands associated with a strong harvest. We have the added advantage of being able to store grain for lengthy periods of time and delivering on-farm as is needed throughout the pending calendar year to facilitate optimal outcomes for our valued customer base.

To further value-add, our company enjoys accreditation under the Mass, Maintenance and Fatigue modules of the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) allowing the maximum legal pay loads; well maintained equipment and Line Haul Drivers able to manage more flexible work hours – all equaling more efficient, pliant and creative service options for our customers and suppliers.

Distribution of freight by Rodneys Transport Service extends throughout NSW, Victoria, Queensland, ACT, South Australia and more recently Western Australia. Our vehicles regularly traverse the AusLink networks as well as all major highways and significant aspects of local shire owned and operated roads, particularly those located within major industrial areas peculiar to the states/territories referred to above. Regular freight movement into and out of all major capital cities within the above states/territories is routine work for our company. Furthermore, our vehicles can be seen moving through major regional, rural and country landscapes too many to mention.

Within our fleet we presently run both B-Double & single tautliners; B-Double & single flat-top trailers; quad-dog trailers; B-Double & Single tipper trailers. On any given day, RTS prime mover and trailer sets can be seen with their distinctive branding travelling the major and minor ‘highways and byways’ linking the key freight corridors on the eastern, northern and southern sectors of Australia.

Over the course of operations our company has introduced a state of the art security access and monitoring system that allows employee admission to our premises 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The advantages of this system are two-fold in that it enables ‘24/7’ driver access to our 120 tonne split weighbridge whilst at the same time ensuring security of equipment, loads and stored product – clear advantages for both RTS and our customers.

More recently, we have commenced the process of moving toward a paperless process from the point of delivery right through to invoicing coupled with the ability to electronically track our heavy vehicles ‘around the clock’ with information provided in real time at 2 minute intervals. This has been enabled with the introduction of in-vehicle technology that includes but is not limited to the following features: – Satellite tracking of vehicles and goods – Hands-free mobile phone capability – Load text message capability (including pick-up and delivery details) – Accreditation capability acknowledgement – Completion of Daily Vehicle Inspection – Completion of Readiness for Duty Checklist It is anticipated that within the next 12 months further modules will be activated that will result in the total integration of information required from acceptance of freight through to customer invoicing.

Our company approach has resulted in a proven capacity to meet the most demanding criteria associated with quality service provision as well as maintaining competitive pricing and timing of haulage and related activity. We believe we are able to quickly respond to the ever-changing needs of industry and commerce as well as offering a speedy reply to individual customer requirements. The clientele our company enjoys a positive working relationship with ranges from large multi nationals through to the sole trader and overwhelmingly these business relationships have become well established long-term liaisons. Rodneys Transport Service Pty Ltd has successfully pursued a policy of providing a service, which is both responsive and reliable with a customer focus and staff satisfaction being the priorities.
